The Bush Family Love ECCO Golf
Street!
The sister to former US president George W. Bush tells that the whole family loves ECCO shoes.
ECCO was one of the sponsors to the ‘George HW Bush Celebrity Classic’ – a charity and celebrity golf tournament that took place June 13th in Kennebunkport in York County, Maine, United States.
“Our four representatives from ECCO were there to fit and provide our Golf Street shoes to all the participants. Unfortunately, it was a very rainy day and many of the celebrities stayed home. However, the participants were thrilled to receive the Golf Street shoes”, says Mike Wilson of ECCO USA.
After this the ECCO team headed out for the third hole on the golf course, where our ECCO tent was in place with our golf shoe samples on display and ready for the tournament to begin.
“Here we had set up a competition. If the golf teams (five golfers each) donated 50USD to charity they participated in our competition ‘Closest to the pin’. Almost everyone participated and the prize was a gift certificate of 230USD for ECCO shoes. We raised 850 USD for the charity. At the same time we chatted with the golfers about our shoes, and we really got a lot of compliments and positive feedback, says ECCO Trainee Linda Jensen.
The president’s sister
Suddenly Dorothy W. Bush Koch, the sister to former president George W. Bush, the younger and also daughter to former president George H. W. Bush, showed up at the ECCO tent.
“She was very nice. She laughed a little about the rainy weather and then she told us that her brother George W. Bush the younger actually bought her a pair of Ladies Golf Street for Christmas 2010. She loved them so much that she bought him a pair of Men’s Golf Street Premier for his birthday on July 6th 2011“, says Mike.
It is not the first time ECCO has participated in the charity event.
“ECCO USA has been a co-sponsor of the event for the past 6 years and tournament organizers this year bought 120 pair of men’s and ladies Street golf shoes from us to give to each tournament player as a gift“, Mike explains.
A big congrats to the ECCO team for a great success!
